Jean Piaget

Swiss psychologist who is renowned for his theory of cognitive development, which describes how children’s thinking changes as they grow older. He proposed four stages of development: sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational. He also identified several processes that underlie cognitive growth, such as assimilation, accommodation, equilibration, and conservation. He used various methods to study children’s thinking, such as observation, interviews, and games.
